Integrating ParFlow with ICON-Land

Modeling the global climate at high resolution requires a proper representation of hydrological processes. WarmWorld Better will enable a precise simulation of water flows over land as well as deep down in the ground by integrating the hydrological model ParFlow with ICON-Land.

In a first meeting, both modeling frameworks, ParFlow and ICON-Land, were briefly introduced and followed by a productive technical discussion. In addition, first challenges were discussed in the design and performance of high-resolution global simulations to demonstrate the benefits of the new simulation capabilities.
